padel-a-thon for richard

Friday 20th June 2026

8am – 8pm

Padel Project UK, Worthing

A much-loved member of our Padel Project Worthing community, Richard Pothecary, recently passed away after suffering a medical incident at the club. Richard was a passionate supporter of the club and a familiar face on our courts. He leaves behind his partner and two children, the family have lost their main earner at the most difficult of times.

We want to do something meaningful for them. So on Friday 20th June, we're running a Padel-a-thon — a full 12-hour fundraising day here at the club, led by our site manager and head coach, Ryan Young.

How it works

  • Book a 60-minute session and play alongside Ryan on the day
Send Ryan a message on 07435058644 to book your spot.

  • The full cost of your session will be donated directly to Richard's family

  • Ryan will be on court continuously from 8am to 8pm — that's 12 straight hours of padel

  • Can't make it? You can still donate via the GoFundMe

Club manager Ryan had this to say

"Richard was a huge part of this club. We want to come together as a community to support the people he loved most, and there's no better place to do that than here at Worthing RFC"

The location is significant, we’re based at Worthing RFC, the club where Richard played rugby for many years. The padel-a-thon will not just raise money, it will be a continuation of the celebration of his life at a place that meant so much to him.

Whether you play or donate, every contribution makes a real difference to a family going through an incredibly hard time. We'd love to see as many of you as possible so please come down, pick up a racket and help us give Richard's family the support they deserve.
